Notes

This pressing does not contain printed inner sleeves or labels and has the Parental Advisory "EXPLICIT CONTENT" printed directly on the lower right corner of the front cover (i.e. NOT a sticker).

Side "d" is listed as a second side "b" on the back of the release.

Sleeve and LP labels the same as this release: Undertow.

Vastly different runouts, suggesting this has been remastered recently. This Volcano reissue uses a sleeve that still contains the Zoo logo. The label says Volcano and Tool Dissectional.
Because of that, the old Zoo Category of 72445-11052-1-RE is in small print on the back, however, the vinyl contains the new Category.

Not to be confused with later pressing Tool - Undertow which contains the exact same disc in a new sleeve altogether.

This pressing does not contain printed inner sleeves or labels and has a Parental Advisory "EXPLICIT CONTENT" sticker on the front of the vinyl jacket.

Also exists other releases of this album (Tool - Undertow and Tool - Undertow) with parental advisory "EXPLICIT LYRICS" sticker.

Video

  • Pretty great sounding LPs, punchy as hell, with a wide holographic presentation. Thick, heavy & dense as the music is, it has terrific definition & separation, in no small part propelled by the dynamics of the pounding drums & throbbing bass. It's cut a little low, so some more volume is required, but if your hi-fi has a V-8 for an amp it is quite an incredible listen. Vinyl itself is flat & quiet on my copy. Pretty good for $16 brand-new in the shrinkwrap...

  • Was excited to find Tool on vinyl at one of my local record stores, but when I got it home to play was rather disappointed with the overall sound. While some of the earlier reviews for this release make sense, and I agree with, somehow I can't stop feeling like this was a poorly mixed version. It's just......too quiet. Surface noise was there for me as well, but not too badly.

  • Came warped and with a bit of surface noise. But overall it sounds warm and tight. It sounds pretty good to me. Very enjoyable pressing

  • Very noisy surface, off-center, warped. Not recommended.some more words here

  • Audio quality is quite nice, nice warm low end, vocals sound good, all around a very enjoyable listen. Sleeve is very basic, nothing fancy, and still contains the misprint on the back regarding side d. My matrix runouts match the ones listed here.

  • I'm undecided on this release. It's dynamic just like the CD, however it's a lot bassier. If you're rocking a rather neutral rig, the thickness will sound great. If you're already on the warm or thick side of things, it might be too much.

  • Agree with Richard. Sounds ok, but the actual presentation is poor. Rough edged to the vinyl and a bare bones sleeve.

  • Absolutely. Very disappointing presentation. It’s an expensive record, too, whenever I see it; at least $35CAD.

  • Sounds pretty good, but the usual bare minimum standard pressing by United. Dont expect a quiet pressing.
